For me, water color is one of the hardest things for me.
Water color just blends and sometimes spreads to wear you don't want it to.
For our self-portrait, I was trying to get the skin tone right, and it was just hard, but learning and understanding how to use that technique was pretty good. Trying to get the shape of the face, the nose, and the eyes alone were hard too. I learned a lot about watercolor. How to blend and mix colors, and different techniques. Just trying out new things was a great thing, also to just get out of my comfort zone.
This week, on Wednesday, we also had to write a report on a particular artist from the Baroque period.
My persons name was Artemisia Gentileschi.
She was a very interesting person. The Baroque period concentrated a lot on violent things. Also having a dark background contrasting with the light of the actual person or scene. Artemisia had a lot of interesting points about her. She was pretty famous at that time just for being a successful woman, with also having a successful father as an artist.
She had a lot of meaning in her paintings.
Artemisia overall was a very interesting person, but the art itself didn't appeal to me much because of the scenes she drew, but in conclusion, she was a fascinating person to learn about.
